We are seeking a Chartered Accountant to lead the company’s accounting function during a critical growth phase. The role involves building financial systems, strengthening controls, ensuring compliance, and delivering accurate reporting while working closely with the Managing Director to meet clear monthly targets.

Responsibilities:
- Take full ownership of the company’s accounting function, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and audit-readiness of all financial records
- Manage and maintain the QuickBooks Online system, including charts of accounts, reconciliations, and data integrity.
- Perform weekly bank reconciliations and monitor daily transactions, promptly flagging discrepancies or irregularities.
- Ensure full compliance with tax and statutory obligations, including accurate and timely filing of VAT, WHT, PAYE, and other regulatory requirements.
- Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accuracy, proper documentation, and compliance with all statutory deductions.
- Prepare monthly management accounts and provide variance analysis and actionable insights.
- Develop and maintain cash flow forecasts, proactively identifying risks and supporting effective financial planning.
- Implement and enforce internal control systems covering payments, procurement, inventory, and financial governance.
- Monitor operational costs and financial performance, providing analysis to support pricing, budgeting, and strategic decision-making.
- Coordinate with external accountants, auditors, and tax consultants, while supervising the Account Officer and supporting the Managing Director with financial reporting and insights.
- Other responsibilities as assigned by management.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline from a recognised institution.
- ACA (ICAN) qualification is required; ACCA is also acceptable.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in accounting or finance roles.
- Experience in hospitality, food service, events, or consumer goods sectors is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent financial reporting and interpretation ability.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- Effective time management and ability to meet strict deadlines.
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks Online, including end-to-end financial management
- Knowledge of Nigerian tax regulations and compliance, including VAT, WHT, PAYE, CIT, and statutory filings.
- Experience in financial reporting, reconciliations, audit processes, and working with external accountants, auditors, and tax consultants.
- Ability to implement and strengthen internal financial controls, with a good understanding of financial governance frameworks in an SME environment.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets for financial modelling, data analysis, and reporting (e.g., pivot tables).
- Experience with e-commerce and operational systems, including platforms like Shopify, inventory and cost management tools, and revenue reconciliation.
- Knowledge of payroll systems, statutory remittances, and evolving business tools, with familiarity with CAMA 2020, FRC reporting standards, and potential ERP systems as an added advantage.
