Job summary
Opes Manus Resources Ltd is building a portfolio of small and medium hydropower projects across Nigeria, starting with brownfield retrofits and greenfield sites. We are looking for a motivated and detail-orientated hydropower site assessment analyst to support the early-stage identification, technical evaluation, and due diligence of potential hydropower sites (primarily existing dams and rivers). This is a field-orientated role ideal for someone with 3–5 years of experience who enjoys travel and hands-on technical assessment work.

Responsibilities:
- Conduct site visits and technical assessments of existing dams and river sites across Nigeria for potential brownfield retrofits or greenfield development.
- Collect and analyse hydrological data, flow measurements, head calculations, and site photographs.
- Assess the renovation and upgrade potential of existing dams (civil condition, outlet works, spillways, etc.).
- Support the preparation of site assessment reports, preliminary feasibility studies, and power output estimates.
- Assist in updating hydrological models and flow duration curves.
- Coordinate with local communities, River Basin Development Authorities, and government agencies during site visits.
- Support the Technical Lead in preparing technical documentation for investors, REA, SPIN, and NERC applications.
- Contribute to the evaluation of solar-hybrid opportunities where relevant (solar knowledge is a plus).
- Maintain a database of assessed sites with technical findings and recommendations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, civil engineering, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of relevant experience in renewable energy project development, site assessment, or hydropower/dam evaluation.
- Willingness and ability to travel extensively across Nigeria (fieldwork will be a major part of the role).
- Basic knowledge of hydropower principles, hydrology, and site assessment methodologies.
- Experience with solar PV systems is a strong advantage but not mandatory.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and basic engineering software (AutoCAD, GIS, or RETScreen is a plus).
- Strong report writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Willingness to work in remote locations.
