Job summary
We are looking to hire a Head, Human Resources & Training (Group HR Lead) to lead HR across our group (retail, food services, logistics, and shared services). This is a hands-on, strategic, and operational HR leadership role: you will own recruitment end-to-end, design and coordinate training programs, build performance & reward frameworks, and partner with business. You will be both a strategic partner to the Executive Team and a practical operator who builds HR systems that run reliably day-to-day.
Job descriptions & requirements
- End-to-end recruitment for group roles (sourcing, assessment, interviewing, offers, onboarding)
- Design and coordinate training & capability programs (induction, role-based training, leadership development)
- Build and run performance management, succession planning and career frameworks
- Oversee HR operations: contracts, payroll liaison, HRIS/attendance, compliance with Nigerian labour laws
- Drive employee relations, engagement and retention programs; manage disciplinary and grievance processes
- Establish HR policies, authority limits, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
- Partner with Finance & Operations on workforce planning, cost control and productivity metrics
- Provide HR analytics and monthly people dashboards to the leadership team
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business Administration or related field (Master’s a plus)
- Professional qualification preferred (CIPM, SHRM, CIPD or equivalent)
- 3+ years progressive HR experience with at least 3 years in a senior HR role (group/multi-site experience preferred)
- Proven track record: owning recruitment at scale, building training programs, implementing performance framework
- Strong familiarity with Nigerian labour law and statutory requirements
- Strong stakeholder management—comfortable with executive/board interactions
- Data-driven: uses people metrics to influence decisions
- Hands-on operator: builds systems and follows through on execution
- Excellent communicator, coach and trainer
- High integrity, decisive, good under pressure
