Job summary

Awameal is a fast-growing food brand based in Owerri, seeking a proactive HR Officer who goes beyond paperwork. This role is critical to managing people effectively, protecting the company culture, and supporting smooth daily operations as the business scales. The ideal candidate is firm but fair, highly organized, people-smart, and understands the direct connection between staff performance, operational efficiency, and brand reputation.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, onboard, and train staff across operations, kitchen, packaging, and support teams
  • Establish clear performance standards and monitor staff productivity
  • Address poor performance promptly through coaching, warnings, and corrective actions
  • Handle staff discipline, conflict resolution, and terminations professionally
  • Develop, implement, and enforce HR policies, staff rules, and workplace procedures
  • Manage staff schedules, attendance, leave, and coordinate payroll activities
  • Build and maintain a positive but accountable work culture aligned with Awameal’s brand values
  • Work closely with management to support smooth daily business operations
  • Ensure staff hygiene, conduct, and behavior consistently reflect the Awameal brand
  • Identify training needs and support continuous staff development
  • Serve as a communication bridge between management and employees


Requirements:

  • Minimum of a B.Sc in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 2–3 years of relevant HR experience is mandatory, preferably in food service, hospitality, or other fast-paced operational environments
  • Demonstrated record of good professional conduct, including verifiable positive references or documented good standing with a recognised HR organisation or previous employer
  • Strong people management, employee relations, and conflict resolution skills
  • Sound understanding of workforce management and operational support
  • Proven ability to enforce workplace policies firmly, fairly, and professionally
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • High level of integrity, discretion, accountability, and professionalism


Location: Owerri

Remuneration: NGN 150,000 Monthly
