Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Site Inspections & Risk Management:
- Conduct routine site inspections, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions.
- Carry out risk assessments and job hazard analyses for all operational activities.
- Monitor compliance with HSE plans and ensure control measures are effectively implemented.
Compliance & Standards:
- Ensure compliance with Nigeria’s HSE laws, regulatory requirements, and company policies.
- Promote adherence to ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards in all operations.
- Enforce company rules on personal conduct, PPE use, and safe work procedures.
Incident Reporting & Investigation;
- Promptly report all incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions to management and clients.
- Conduct root cause analyses and develop preventive and corrective action plans.
- Ensure lessons learned are shared across project teams for future prevention.
Training & Toolbox Talks:
- Organize and deliver HSE inductions, toolbox talks, and refresher training sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors.
- Promote a strong safety culture and awareness through consistent communication and engagement.
Emergency Response & Drills:
- Develop, review, and coordinate emergency response protocols for incidents such as fires, spills, or accidents.
- Plan and facilitate periodic emergency drills to ensure readiness and compliance.
PPE & Equipment Oversight:
- Monitor and enforce the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Conduct
Material Handling
Equipment (MHE) inspections (e.g., forklifts) and verify
completion of daily pre-use checklists.
Environmental Stewardship:
- Oversee waste management, spill prevention, and housekeeping to minimise environmental impact.
- Promote best practices in environmental protection and sustainable site operations.
Requirements:
- OND/HND/Bachelor’s Degree (B.Sc.) in Environmental Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 1–3 years of relevant experience in HSE supervision within the construction industry.
- Professional certifications such as NEBOSH, ISPON, IOSH, or equivalent are required.
- Knowledge of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards is an added advantage.
