Job summary

MML Consulting Ltd, a consulting and management service provider is seeking qualified candidates to fill the position of Human Resources (HR) Manager for its client in the Oil and Gas industry. We are seeking an experienced HR Manager to lead the full HR function and partner with senior management in driving business growth.

Responsibilities:

Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning:

  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process from job posting to onboarding.
  • Champion the onboarding process by ensuring that it is high-quality and up to date, and provide clarity and connection for employees so their roles serve the overall business vision.
  • Forecast workforce requirements in line with ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Support the Bid and Tendering Team with CVs of high-quality personnel for tender submissions.


HR Policy, Compliance & Governance:

  • Develop and implement HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with the Nigerian Labour Act, Pension Reform Act, and other statutory requirements.
  • Submit monthly HR progress reports and ensure data is accurate.


Employee Relations & Workplace Culture:

  • Handle employee grievances, conflict resolution, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Maintain a positive, transparent, and inclusive work culture while ensuring adherence to company policies.
  • Champion organizational culture and change management initiatives.


Performance Management & Learning Development:

  • Implement performance management systems and oversee performance appraisal processes.
  • Implement training programs including technical training, safety awareness, and leadership development.
  • Partner with line managers to identify skills gaps and succession planning needs, and support career growth pathways.


Compensation, Benefits & Employee Welfare:

  • Support the Finance Team on payroll and statutory deductions-related matters.
  • Conduct salary reviews to remain competitive in the industry. 
  • Manage staff welfare initiatives and benefits administration.
  • Support employee wellness and welfare programs, including medicals, housing, and project site welfare.
  • Collaborate with HSE teams to embed safety awareness in employee orientation.


Strategic HR & Business Partnering:

  • Advise senior management on HR strategies to support business growth.
  • Provide HR metrics, reports, and insights on workforce trends, turnover, and productivity.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related discipline.
  • Master’s degree or MBA with an HR focus is an advantage.
  • Professional certification such as CIPM, CIPD, SHRM-CP/SCP, or HRCI is required or must be in view.
  • Minimum of 7–10 years’ progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years in a managerial or HR generalist leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrable experience across the full HR value chain: recruitment, employee relations, performance management, learning and development, and compensation and benefits.
  • Prior experience in the oil and gas, engineering, construction, or a similarly project-driven industry is strongly preferred.
  • Proven track record managing statutory compliance under the Nigerian Labour Act, Pension Reform Act, PAYE, NSITF, and ITF requirements.
  • Experience supporting bid and tender submissions with personnel data and CVs is an advantage.
  • Experience managing multi-site or project-site workforces, including expatriate and contract staff administration.


Skills& Competencies:

  • Strong working knowledge of Nigerian labour law, pension administration, and statutory remittance obligations.
  • Proficiency with HRIS/HRMS platforms, payroll systems, and applicant tracking systems.
  • Competence in HR analytics and reporting, with the ability to translate workforce data into actionable insight.
  • Sound understanding of workforce planning, job evaluation, and salary benchmarking methodologies.
  • Working knowledge of HSE principles as they relate to employee orientation and site welfare.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills across all organizational levels.
  • Sound judgement and discretion in handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Strong conflict resolution and grievance handling capability.
  • Business acumen with the ability to align HR strategy to commercial objectives.
  • Close attention to detail and a process-driven approach to HR operations.
  • Ability to influence and coach line managers and senior stakeholders.
  • Resilience and adaptability in a fast-paced, project-driven environment.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
