Crescendo Capital Limited is recruiting an HR Business Partner on behalf of its client, a leading furniture manufacturing and construction company. The HR Business Partner will serve as the strategic and operational partner to business leaders, driving the alignment of people strategies with organisational objectives.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

Strategic HR Partnership

  • Partner with department heads to understand business priorities and translate them into HR action
  • Act as the primary driver of embedding new HR policies, structures, and systems into daily operations
  • Provide data-driven insight on workforce trends, attrition, and productivity to inform business decisions
  • Support succession planning and organisational design discussions with department heads


Talent Acquisition & Onboarding:

  • Manage end-to-end recruitment across all locations, from requisition through offer
  • Partner with department heads to define role requirements and selection criteria
  • Design and deliver a structured onboarding/induction programme for new hires
  • Build a talent pipeline for critical or hard-to-fill roles, including skilled production staff, design, and sales


Performance Management:

  • Roll out and administer the performance appraisal framework across all functions
  • Coach managers on goal-setting, feedback, and conducting fair performance reviews
  • Track performance data and flag development needs or underperformance early


Employee Relations & Discipline:

  • Serve as the first point of contact for employee relations issues, grievances, and disciplinary matters
  • Apply the disciplinary sanction grid and HR policy manual consistently across cases and locations
  • Prepare infraction memos, warning letters, and related employee relations documentation
  • Support investigations and ensure fair, policy-compliant resolution of workplace issues


Policy & Compliance:

  • Ensure consistent application of HR policies across all locations
  • Keep HR policies and the employee handbook current and compliant with Nigerian labour law
  • Ensure statutory compliance - pension, NHF, ITF, NSITF - in partnership with Finance
  • Maintain accurate, audit-ready employee records and HR documentation


Compensation, Benefits & HR Systems:

  • Support job evaluation, salary benchmarking, and administration of the compensation structure
  • Administer employee benefits and statutory deductions in coordination with Finance
  • Champion adoption of HR systems/HRIS to support a multi-location workforce


Culture & Engagement:

  • Design and drive employee engagement initiatives across all sites
  • Monitor culture and engagement indicators, with particular sensitivity to the company's family-led leadership structure
  • Support internal communication of HR Transformation milestones to build employee buy-in


Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources Management, Industrial Relations, Business Administration, Psychology, or a related field
  • Professional HR certification preferred (CIPM, PHRi, SHRM-CP, or equivalent) Experience ● Minimum 5–7 years of progressive HR generalist or business partnering experience
  • At least 4 years of experience in a managerial/supervisory role
  • Experience in manufacturing, retail, or similarly operationally-intensive sectors preferred
  • Experience supporting multi-location workforces is an advantage
  • Prior exposure to HR transformation, policy design, or organisational change work is a plus


Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong business acumen and the ability to translate business needs into HR solutions
  • Excellent employee relations and conflict resolution skills
  • Sound knowledge of Nigerian labour law and statutory compliance requirements
  • Strong communication, coaching, and influencing skills
  • Discretion and sound judgment in handling sensitive or confidential matters
  • Proficiency with HR systems/HRIS and MS Office
