Job summary
We are seeking an experienced and safety-conscious Heavy Duty Mechanic to inspect, diagnose, service, and repair heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities:
- Responsible for diagnosing mechanical faults and carrying out repairs on heavy-duty vehicles and equipment.
- The role involves routine servicing, major overhauls, and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure equipment availability.
- The mechanic will inspect engines, gearboxes, hydraulic systems, and braking systems, replace or repair defective components, and conduct preventive maintenance according to maintenance schedules.
- Accurate documentation of repair and service activities is required.
- The role also involves working closely with maintenance engineers and auto electricians, ensuring all work is performed in compliance with safety standards and company procedures.
Requirements
- Must possess a technical certificate, trade test qualification, OND, or its equivalent in mechanical engineering, automotive engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience working with heavy-duty vehicles and equipment such as trucks, loaders, excavators, generators, and industrial machinery is required.
- Strong knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, braking systems, and powertrains is essential.
- The candidate must have a good understanding of preventive maintenance practices and fault diagnosis.
- Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental standards is mandatory.
- The ability to read technical manuals and work independently with minimal supervision is required.
