Health, Safety and Environment Officer
Job summary
We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented HSE Officer to oversee health, safety, and environmental practices across our interior design, architectural, and project construction activities.

Responsibilities:
Health, Safety & Environmental Management:
- Implement and monitor HSE policies, procedures, and site safety requirements.
- Conduct regular site inspections and identify potential hazards and unsafe practices.
- Ensure compliance with applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Conduct toolbox talks, safety briefings, and staff awareness sessions.
- Develop and maintain site-specific risk assessments and safe work procedures.
Site Safety & Project Monitoring:
- Monitor construction, installation, fabrication, and interior fit-out activities for compliance with safety standards.
- Ensure proper use of PPE and other required safety equipment.
- Monitor contractors, subcontractors, artisans, and site workers to ensure adherence to safety requirements.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate HSE records, inspection reports, and incident documentation.
Emergency & Risk Management:
- Identify operational risks and develop appropriate control and mitigation measures.
- Support emergency preparedness, fire safety, and evacuation procedures.
- Ensure first-aid and emergency response arrangements are available at project sites.
- Escalate critical safety issues promptly to management.
Environmental Compliance:
- Monitor proper waste disposal, housekeeping, and environmental practices on project sites.
- Promote safe handling and storage of construction and finishing materials.
- Monitor activities that may create environmental or occupational hazards.
Requirements:
- A minimum of HND in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Management, Engineering, Building Technology, or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of HSE experience, preferably within construction, interior design, architecture, or related project environments.
- Relevant HSE certification such as NEBOSH, IOSH, NISHS, or equivalent is an advantage.
- Good knowledge of construction site safety practices and risk assessment.
- Strong understanding of Nigerian HSE requirements and workplace safety standards.
