Head of Sales – Nigeria
Please note - we are only looking for candidates with logistic freight forwarding experience.
Are you a strategic sales leader with a proven track record of driving growth, leading high-performing teams, and delivering exceptional customer value within the logistics and freight forwarding industry?
On behalf of our client we are seeking an experienced Head of Sales to lead commercial strategy in Kenya. This is a senior leadership role responsible for developing and executing country sales strategies, driving market share growth, strengthening customer relationships, and delivering sustainable revenue and profitability results.
- Develop and implement the country sales strategy aligned with regional and global business objectives.
- Drive market growth, revenue generation, and customer retention initiatives.
- Lead and manage all sales disciplines and strategic commercial activities across the country.
- Continuously assess market trends, industry developments, and customer needs to identify growth opportunities.
- Support key customer strategies and high-value contract negotiations.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, partners, and key stakeholders.
- Identify and secure new business opportunities and strategic accounts.
- Ensure customer satisfaction through proactive engagement and issue resolution.
- Monitor and improve sales performance through effective measurement, reporting, and pipeline management.
- Drive achievement of annual business plans, budgets, profitability, and market share targets.
- Analyze sales performance data and implement improvement initiatives where required.
- Ensure efficient utilization of resources to maximize commercial results.
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales team.
- Set clear objectives, KPIs, and performance expectations.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and succession planning activities.
- Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
- Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
- Manage customer complaints and escalation processes effectively.
- Ensure adherence to customer SOPs and DHL Global Forwarding operational standards.
What We're Looking For
Experience
- Minimum 10 years' experience within the logistics, freight forwarding, or supply chain industry.
- At least 5 years' experience in a senior sales leadership role (Head of Sales/Sales Director/Senior Sales Manager level).
- Demonstrated success in leading commercial teams and delivering significant revenue growth.
- Strong experience in contract negotiation and strategic account management.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Sales, Marketing, Business Development, Business Management, or a related field.
- Relevant commercial or logistics qualifications will be advantageous.
