Head of Operations
Job summary
The Head of Operations is responsible for planning, directing, and overseeing all operational activities of the mining company. The role ensures that mining, processing, logistics, equipment maintenance, health and safety, environmental compliance, and production targets are achieved efficiently and in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.

Responsibilities:
Operational Management:
- Develop and implement operational strategies to achieve production targets and business objectives.
- Oversee daily mining operations, mineral processing, transportation, and logistics activities.
- Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, equipment, and other resources.
- Monitor production performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE):
- Ensure strict compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and mining regulations.
- Promote a strong safety culture throughout the organization.
- Lead incident investigations and implement corrective and preventive measures.
- Ensure environmental management plans are implemented and maintained.
Equipment and Asset Management:
- Oversee maintenance and availability of mining equipment and machinery.
- Ensure preventive and corrective maintenance programs are effectively implemented.
- Monitor equipment utilization and recommend replacement or acquisition where necessary.
Financial and Budget Management:
- Prepare and manage operational budgets.
- Monitor operational expenditures and implement cost-control measures.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and operational optimization.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with all mining laws, environmental regulations, and government requirements.
- Liaise with relevant regulatory agencies and stakeholders.
- Ensure timely submission of required operational and compliance reports.
Leadership and People Management:
- Lead, mentor, and supervise operational managers and staff.
- Establish performance objectives and conduct periodic performance evaluations.
- Identify training and development needs for operational personnel.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, and operational excellence.
Stakeholder Management:
- Maintain effective relationships with local communities, government agencies, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Support community engagement and corporate social responsibility initiatives.
Reporting:
- Prepare and submit operational reports to executive management.
- Provide recommendations for improving operational performance and profitability.
Requirements:
- Minimum qualification of BSC.
- 3 years of previous experience in a similar role.
