The Head of Marketing oversees all facets of the company's marketing strategy and implementation. This pivotal role entails crafting and executing marketing strategies to cultivate a growing base of engaged customers. Leveraging a substantial marketing budget, the Head of Marketing drives new customer acquisition by strategically testing various channels to ascertain the optimal marketing mix for platform traffic generation and maximum return on investment (ROI). This entails a blend of digital platforms and traditional and grassroots channels to achieve optimal outcomes. Key responsibilities include accelerating the growth of the online customer database while maintaining its activity levels to yield favorable ROI in a profitable and efficient manner. Additionally, the role is accountable for achieving satisfactory ROI from marketing investments aligned with business objectives.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that effective marketing strategies are deployed to achieve targets within the marketing budget.
  • Generate new customers and support the rest of the Business Team in taking care of existing customers
  • Manage marketing efficiency by creating optimal channel and communication plans
  • Secure a smooth working relationship with internal and external partners
  • Build the brand according to the established brand platform and uphold brand and marketing standards at all times
  • Execute and coordinate all marketing activities for the Nigerian market
  • Evaluate media activities to track the effect of the different investments
  • Be on top of the local business and make sure that promotions are competitive
  • Drive brand awareness through an advanced mix of onsite, offsite or social media marketing communication
  • Make sure the content on local web sections are up to standard when it comes to local copy, visual, promotions, etc.
  • Ensure all work is compliant with Nigerian advertising regulations
  • Leverage the customer insights gathered online and from external researches to learn more about consumers, further segmenting the target market and responding flexibly to the needs of various audiences
  • Think creatively and produce new ideas/concepts on marketing  
  • Present and consult with management on current marketing trends with a view to developing new content and marketing engagements
  • Maintain a full knowledge of competitors’ marketing activity, products and service offered to customers


Detailed duties

  • Development and implementation of the brand marketing strategy
  • Devising effective marketing strategies aimed at achieving business targets
  • Developing marketing strategy for new and existing products
  • Carry out competitor analysis to ensure the company’s marketing strategy is competing effectively
  • Oversee implementation of the marketing strategy - including campaigns, events, digital marketing, and PR.
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.
  • Contribute to marketing effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-range issues that must be addressed; providing information and commentary pertinent to deliberations; recommending options and courses of action; implementing directives.
  • Working closely with other heads of departments on company projects
  • Working closely with the company’s product managers enabling them to meet their commercial objectives by providing them with appropriate tools, materials and presentations
  • Influence present and future products by determining and evaluating current and future market trends
  • Guiding the day to day activities of the marketing team
  • Ensuring that the marketing objectives are implemented by the marketing team
  • Ensuring that brand guidelines/ brand book are adhered to in all marketing activities across the company
  • Work closely with product management team to define marketing materials and programs
  • Manage social media presence and direct programs to improve social media reputation and recognition
  • To design and produce all company literature, marketing and branding materials in support of all department activity that is consistent in design quality and content
  • Developing and delivering marketing and communications strategies for the organization
  • Undertake continuous analysis of competitive environment and consumer trends
  • To ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements in relation to advertising, marketing and PR.


Requirements:

  • A bachelor's degree in Marketing, Psychology, Communications, Advertising, or a Business Management related subject.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in a marketing role.
  • Minimum 3 years experience in a management role.
  • Industry experience will be an added advantage.
