We are expanding our service offerings into academia and are seeking an experienced GRE & SAT Verbal Question Creator to design original, high-quality questions across all GRE verbal question types: Reading Comprehension, Text Completion, and Sentence Equivalence. The successful candidate will also develop original, on-brand passages and questions in alignment with the digital SAT’s updated format. This is a contract, remote position for professionals with strong verbal skills, exceptional attention to detail, and familiarity with GRE standards.

Job Description/Requirements
GRE Responsibilities:
- Create original GRE-style Reading Comprehension passages with multiple questions that test understanding, inference, and analysis.
- Develop Text Completion questions (single and multiple blanks) that test vocabulary and contextual reasoning.
- Develop Sentence Equivalence questions that test vocabulary, logic, and nuance.
- Produce accurate answer keys and clear, step-by-step explanations, including reasoning for correct and incorrect options.
- Ensure all content reflects GRE style, difficulty, and rigour.
- Revise questions based on feedback from content leads.
- Maintain consistency, accuracy, and high-quality standards across all verbal content.
- Meet weekly content production targets while adhering to deadlines.
SAT Responsibilities:
- Create original digital-SAT-style Reading & Writing questions that assess comprehension, logical reasoning, vocabulary in context, and editing skills.
- Write short passages that reflect SAT-aligned domains, including: Humanities, Social sciences, Natural sciences, Literature, and Historical/Foundational documents (non-political tone)
- Develop questions that assess: Main idea and supporting detail, Inference and logic, Author’s purpose and tone, Text structure, Transitions and cohesion, and Word choice and meaning in context
- Produce questions that test writing conventions such as: Standard English grammar, Sentence boundaries and punctuation, Parallel structure and modifier placement, Pronoun and verb agreement, Conciseness and clarity and Logical transitions
- Create data-driven reading questions involving charts, graphs, tables, or scientific summaries.
- Provide accurate answer keys with clear, concise explanations for correct and incorrect options.
- Ensure alignment with the digital SAT’s: Short passage format, Single-question format, Cognitive demand, Neutral, and academic tone
- Maintain balanced difficulty appropriate for high-school learners preparing for college entry.
- Track topic coverage to ensure broad representation across reading and writing skills.
- Revise and refine questions based on editorial feedback to ensure clarity, fairness, and precision.
- Submit work consistently and meet weekly content production targets.
Requirements:
- Academic background in English, literature, linguistics, communications, or related fields.
- Exceptional reading, analytical, and verbal reasoning skills.
- Familiarity with all GRE Verbal question types and structure.
- Excellent written English communication and the ability to explain reasoning clearly.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing precise, error-free content.
- Strong reading, editing, and verbal reasoning skills.
- Ability to write short, academically-neutral passages across multiple subject domains.
- High attention to detail and reliability on deadlines.
- Ability to create explanations that teach reasoning, not just reveal answers.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Deep familiarity with digital SAT Reading & Writing question types and structure.
- Experience writing standardised test content, tutoring SAT, or working in educational publishing.
Work Environment:
- Fully remote with flexible scheduling.
- Asynchronous collaboration with content leads.
Compensation:
- Contract-based; payment per approved question or agreed-upon volume. Competitive rates for high-quality output.

Note: Candidates with minimal standardised question-writing experience but extensive tutorial experience in either the SAT or GRE verbal, as well as demonstrable strong verbal reasoning and reading comprehension skills, are encouraged to apply. Question-creation training will be provided (we only consider candidates who demonstrate the ability to produce rigorous, exam-ready verbal content). Candidates with extensive teaching experience in English but little to no experience in SAT & GRE Verbal tutoring will be considered.
