Graphic Designer

Responsibilities:

• Create original illustrations for textbooks, workbooks, storybooks, children’s books and other publications.
• Develop characters, scenes, diagrams, icons and other visual elements based on project requirements.
• Create engaging and age-appropriate illustrations for different educational levels.
• Design book covers, page layouts, flyers, brochures, posters, banners and promotional materials.
• Create graphics for social media, websites and digital publications.
• Work with editors, authors and content developers to interpret creative and editorial briefs.
• Modify and refine illustrations based on feedback from editors and authors.
• Design and arrange text, illustrations, photographs and other visual elements for publication.
• Prepare artwork and design files for print and digital production.
• Review proofs and make corrections before final production.
• Ensure consistency in typography, layout, colour, imagery and overall visual presentation.
• Maintain organised design files and project archives.
• Generate creative concepts and contribute ideas during project planning and brainstorming sessions.
• Research current design and illustration trends relevant to educational publishing.
• Manage multiple design projects and meet production deadlines.
• Provide regular progress updates and respond appropriately to feedback and revisions.

 Requirements:

• Bachelor’s Degree, HND or OND in Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Visual Arts, Creative Arts, Multimedia Design or a related field.
• Professional certification in graphic design is an added advantage.
• 2–4 years’ relevant experience in graphic design, illustration, publishing, advertising or a related creative role.
• Experience designing educational materials, textbooks, children's books or workbooks is an advantage.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating illustration and graphic design ability is required.
• Proficiency in CorelDRAW, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Adobe InDesign.
• Strong digital illustration skills.
• Good knowledge of layout, typography and visual composition.
• Understanding of print production and preparation of artwork for printing.
• Basic photo editing and image manipulation skills.
• Good understanding of colour theory.
• Strong creativity and artistic ability.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Ability to interpret creative briefs accurately.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Strong time-management and organisational skills.
• Ability to handle revisions positively and work under tight deadlines.
• Ability to manage several projects simultaneously.
