Graduate Intern, Backend Engineering
Job descriptions & requirements
About Kudy Financials
Kudy Financials was built on a simple conviction: that professional-grade investment management should not be a privilege reserved for the already-wealthy. Since 2017, we have been building the infrastructure to put institutional-quality funds within reach of everyday investors across Africa and beyond. We are regulated, structured, and built to last.
We are an SEC-regulated investment management firm with funds spanning fixed income, high-yield, and Naira-denominated strategies. Our clients range from first-time investors saving toward a goal to high-net-worth individuals and diaspora investors managing serious wealth. What connects them is a shared expectation: that their money will be managed with rigour, transparency, and care.
We are looking for people who want to learn inside that operation. If you are technically curious, eager to grow, and ready to roll up your sleeves from day one, this is where that begins.
The Role
We are looking for a Backend Engineering Intern to join our Engineering team in Abuja. You will work alongside our engineers, getting hands-on exposure to how backend systems are built and maintained in a real fintech environment, from APIs to databases to the logic that keeps everything running.
This is a hybrid role, offering you the flexibility of working from home and collaborating with the team in our Abuja office.
What You'll Do
- Support the backend team in building and maintaining features across our investment platform.
- Write and test code under the guidance of senior engineers.
- Collaborate with Product and Operations to understand how engineering decisions affect the business.
- Learn how software is built, reviewed, and shipped in a production environment.
Who You Are
- NYSC Status: You are currently preparing for camp, actively serving in Abuja, or a very recent corper (not more than 6 months post-NYSC).
- Location: You currently reside in Abuja and are comfortable with a hybrid work structure.
- Foundational Knowledge: You have started thinking about how to build things, not just what to build. You have an idea of what the first principles of engineering are, even if you cannot recite them. You care about structure, maintainability, and writing code the next person can read.
- Some Coding Experience: You have gone beyond courses or a CS degree. You have actually written TypeScript or JavaScript for a real project, even a small one.
- Comfortable with Databases: You have a basic understanding of how databases work and can write simple SQL queries.
- Can Explain Your Thinking: You can walk someone through a decision you made, how you approached a problem, and what you would do differently next time. We care less about what you have built and more about whether you understand why you built it that way.
- Curious and Driven: You ask good questions, pick things up quickly, and do not need to be hand-held to make progress.
What's in it for You?
- Real Exposure: Hands-on experience inside a live fintech engineering team, not just observation.
- Mentorship: Learn directly from engineers who will invest time in your growth.
- Hybrid Flexibility: Enjoy the best of both worlds. Remote focus and in-person collaboration.
- Competitive Stipend: We value your work and compensate fairly.
- Career Growth: Potential for full-time retention post-NYSC based on exceptional performance.
Remuneration for the role is ₦150k–₦250k monthly
