General Manager
Job summary
This is a senior leadership position for a commercially minded operator who can manage across people, finance, sales, customer experience, workshop operations, inventory, and administration.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the overall day-to-day operations of the business.
- Translate company strategy into clear operational priorities and measurable targets.
- Set departmental objectives and hold managers accountable for performance.
- Monitor revenue, profitability, costs, cash flow, and other key business indicators.
- Drive business development, customer acquisition, retention, and commercial growth.
- Oversee workshop operations and ensure high standards of service delivery.
- Ensure effective management of parts, inventory, procurement, and operational resources.
- Work closely with the Finance Manager to maintain financial discipline and profitability.
- Work closely with the HR Manager to build a productive, accountable, and high-performing workforce.
- Review operational and financial reports and take corrective action where necessary.
- Identify inefficiencies, bottlenecks, and areas of unnecessary expenditure.
- Develop and implement systems that improve productivity and operational control.
- Maintain high standards of customer service and resolve significant customer issues.
- Build strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, partners, and other stakeholders.
- Lead management meetings and ensure agreed actions are executed.
- Report regularly to executive leadership on business performance, challenges, and opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, company policies, and safety standards.
- Develop and mentor department heads and strengthen the company's management capability.
Requirements:
- Master's degree in Business Administration, Management, Engineering, Economics, or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 10 years' professional experience, including at least 6 years in a senior management or general management position.
- Proven experience managing multiple business functions simultaneously.
- Demonstrated responsibility for revenue, profitability, budgets, or significant operational targets.
- Strong commercial and financial understanding.
- Proven experience managing managers and cross-functional teams.
- Strong understanding of business operations, performance management, and process improvement.
- Excellent leadership, negotiation, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Strong analytical ability and commercial judgement.
- High level of integrity, accountability, discretion, and professionalism.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office and business management systems.
Preferred Experience:
- Candidates with experience managing automotive dealerships, service centres, fleet operations, manufacturing businesses, retail operations, or other multi-department organisations will have an advantage.
- Experience managing a business with 100+ employees and direct exposure to executive leadership will be highly advantageous.
- Professional qualifications such as an MBA, PMP, ICAN, ACCA, CIPM, or relevant industry certification are an advantage.
