Front Desk Officer
Job summary
As a Front Desk Officer at SweatBox Lagos, you’ll be the first point of contact for our members and visitors. You will play a critical role in creating a welcoming and organized atmosphere, managing member check-ins, assisting with inquiries, and supporting the operational needs of the gym. It is a shift-based role. Shift is divided into Morning and Evening. Morning shift(6am-2pm) Evening shift(1pm-9pm). You are expected to come 2 Saturdays per month.

Responsibilities:
Member Engagement & Customer Service:
- Warmly greet all members and guests upon arrival and provide exceptional customer service.
- Assist members with inquiries about memberships, class schedules, personal training, and any other gym-related services.
- Ensure a positive experience for all members by resolving issues quickly and effectively, providing solutions, and maintaining a professional, friendly attitude.
- Manage member check-ins using gym management software and ensure accuracy in all member records.
- Create a welcoming environment by maintaining a clean, organized, and professional front desk area.
Administrative & Operational Support:
- Answer phone calls, emails, and messages professionally, directing inquiries to the appropriate team members when needed.
- Handle membership sign-ups, renewals, and cancellations, ensuring accurate and up-to-date information is logged into the system.
- Assist with scheduling appointments for personal training sessions, fitness consultations, or other services.
- Maintain member records, including payments, attendance, and personal information, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy.
- Process payments for memberships, personal training, or merchandise, ensuring proper handling of cash and credit card transactions.
- Assist with gym facility setup and maintenance, including managing class schedules, ensuring equipment is in working order, and communicating any issues to management.
Sales & Promotions:
- Promote memberships, services, and products (such as fitness classes, personal training, and merchandise) to prospective and current members.
- Drive membership sales by encouraging potential members to take a tour, try out services, or participate in promotional offers.
- Distribute marketing materials like flyers, posters, and newsletters to inform members about upcoming events or promotions.
Member Relationship & Retention:
- Monitor member satisfaction, providing feedback to management based on member interactions.
- Handle member complaints or concerns, resolving them in a professional and timely manner while ensuring a positive outcome.
- Track member attendance, ensuring that members are adhering to the gym’s policies and guidelines.
- Support member retention efforts by offering excellent customer service and promoting gym initiatives and special events.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with other team members to ensure smooth operations and a harmonious work environment.
- Assist management and trainers with scheduling or event coordination as needed.
- Ensure effective communication between the front desk, management, and gym staff to address operational needs and member requests.
General Facility Support:
- Ensure the front desk area is tidy, well-organized, and equipped with necessary materials (e.g., brochures, pens, paperwork).
- Monitor and report any maintenance issues, equipment malfunctions, or safety hazards, ensuring they are addressed quickly.
- Ensure the gym environment remains clean by working with cleaning staff to maintain a welcoming atmosphere.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in customer service or administrative roles (ideally in a fitness or wellness setting).
- Passion for fitness and wellness, with a strong understanding of the gym environment and its offerings.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with members, staff, and management.
- Strong organizational skills with an eye for detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Proficient in using gym management software, the ability to use Microsoft Office and Google Suite is a must.
- Ability to handle cash and process payments accurately.
- Friendly, approachable, and professional demeanor, with a positive and proactive attitude.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to handle unexpected situations and conflicts.
- Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative team player.
- Academic Qualification - SSCE/ND.
