Job summary

The Foreman is responsible for the day-to-day technical supervision of mechanics and workshop activities. The role ensures that repair and maintenance jobs are properly diagnosed, assigned, executed, documented, and completed according to approved technical standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise mechanics and technical workshop personnel.
  • Review vehicle complaints and determine appropriate diagnostic procedures.
  • Allocate repair jobs to mechanics based on skills and workload.
  • Provide technical guidance and support during complex repairs.
  • Monitor repair progress and ensure jobs are completed correctly.
  • Review completed repairs before submission for quality inspection.
  • Conduct or supervise vehicle diagnosis.
  • Identify mechanical, electrical, and other vehicle faults within areas of competence.
  • Confirm the root cause of identified problems.
  • Recommend appropriate repair or replacement solutions.
  • Ensure repairs are carried out using approved methods and tools.
  • Assist mechanics with difficult or complex repairs.
  • Ensure mechanics follow approved repair procedures.
  • Review completed work for technical accuracy.
  • Identify defective or incomplete repairs.
  • Ensure rework is completed before the vehicle proceeds to Quality Control.
  • Monitor recurring faults and recommend preventive actions.
  • Review job cards and repair instructions.
  • Ensure all work performed is properly documented.
  • Monitor labour hours and job progress.
  • Report additional repair requirements to the Service Manager.
  • Ensure no unauthorized work is carried out.
  • Ensure workshop tools and equipment are properly used.
  • Report damaged or faulty equipment.
  • Monitor proper handling and storage of tools.


Requirements:

  • Minimum qualification of an OND
  • 2 years of previous experience in a similar role
