Role Description The Firefighter is a full-time, on-site role based at Insignia Print Technology LFTZ Enterprise on Lagos Island. The role involves responding to fire emergencies within the facility, operating firefighting equipment, and implementing fire suppression and rescue techniques to protect people, property, and operations. Day-to-day tasks include conducting routine fire safety inspections, monitoring compliance with fire safety procedures, maintaining firefighting tools and systems, and participating in fire drills and emergency response training. The Firefighter collaborates with health, safety, and operations teams to identify fire risks, support preventive measures, and provide guidance on safe practices. The role also requires accurate incident reporting, support during emergency evacuations, and readiness to respond to emergencies at any time during assigned shifts.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated competence in firefighting operations, including use of hoses, extinguishers, breathing apparatus, and other fire suppression equipment.
- Strong knowledge of fire safety regulations, emergency response procedures, and industrial safety standards, preferably within manufacturing or packaging environments.
- Ability to perform risk assessments, identify fire hazards, and support implementation of preventive and corrective actions.
- Physical fitness and stamina sufficient for demanding emergency response tasks, including lifting, climbing, and working in high-heat or confined environments.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate calmly and clearly during emergencies and safety drills.
- Training or certification in firefighting, fire safety, or emergency management from a recognized institution; additional HSE or first aid/CPR certification is an advantage.
- Experience in industrial or facility-based firefighting is strongly preferred; familiarity with FSSC 22000 or other safety and quality management systems is beneficial.
- Willingness to work shifts, respond to urgent calls, and participate in regular training and drills to maintain readiness.
