Finishings & Fit-Outs Manager
Job descriptions & requirements
Lead the Finishing Standard for an International Hotel
HFN Global Investments is delivering a 67-key Radisson RED hotel in Victoria Island, Lagos, and we are looking for an exceptional Finishings & Fit-Outs Manager to lead the finishing execution from the workface through to final room delivery. Expats open to relocation are encouraged to apply.
This is a hands-on craft leadership role.
We are looking for an experienced finishing professional who has built their career around delivering high-specification interiors and can lead skilled tradesmen to reproduce an exacting international standard across an entire hotel.
International finishing professionals with experience in branded hospitality, luxury residential or high-end fit-out environments are strongly encouraged to apply.
The Role
You will be the craft leader for the finishing and fit-out scope, responsible for establishing the workmanship standard, building the right crews, proving the standard through mock-up execution and maintaining it throughout the 66-room rollout.
You will work directly with self-perform crews, chargehands and subcontractor foremen to ensure that the finished product meets the required architectural, interior and brand standards.
What you will own
- Build and lead HFN's self-perform finishing crews across plastering, screeding, painting, tiling, joinery installation, wallcoverings, FF&E and OS&E placement.
- Design and conduct practical trade tests to assess tradesmen before they enter production.
- Lead Room Zero, where every repeating room detail is built, tested and corrected before rollout.
- Personally demonstrate finishing techniques and correct workmanship at the workface.
- Lead the Mock-Up Room (MUR) to the required standard and establish the benchmark for the remaining 66 rooms.
- Build or directly supervise the first unit of every repeating element before it proceeds into production.
- Enforce finishing standards across subcontractor gangs and coach their foremen against approved ITPs and acceptance criteria.
- Identify workmanship risks early and drive root-cause correction before defects propagate.
- Identify and develop high-performing tradesmen into chargehands for floor or trade-cluster leadership.
- Manage crew allocation, sequencing and productivity against the master programme and measured quantities.
- Drive first-time-right execution and minimise rework across the self-perform scope.
- Own punch-list closure and contribute practical trade knowledge to ITPs, method statements and acceptance criteria.
What We Are Looking For
This role requires craft credibility, not simply construction management experience.
You should have:
- 8–15+ years of fit-out/finishing experience, including at least 5 years leading crews.
- A strong background in a finishing trade such as joinery, tiling, plastering or decorative finishes, with demonstrable hands-on technical expertise.
- Experience leading directly employed/self-perform crews, rather than exclusively managing subcontractor packages.
- Experience delivering finishes on an internationally branded hotel or equivalent high-end residential project.
- Experience working under demanding brand, client or quality inspection standards.
- The ability to train, coach and correct tradesmen directly at the workface.
- Strong ability to read architectural and interior design drawings, setting-out dimensions and finishes schedules.
- The ability to lead a multicultural site workforce and adapt effectively to a Lagos-based project environment.
- A track record of personally delivered work that can be discussed and evidenced during the selection process.
International Experience Is an Advantage
We are particularly interested in candidates with experience across international hospitality, luxury residential or high-specification fit-out projects.
Experience in markets such as the Middle East, Europe, Africa or other international construction markets will be highly valued, particularly where combined with strong finishing-trade expertise.
Previous experience with major international hotel operators or brands is advantageous.
This Is Not a Conventional Fit-Out Management Role
If your experience is primarily:
- managing subcontractor paperwork;
- coordinating programmes without direct workface involvement;
- commercial administration; or
- supervising rather than understanding finishing execution,
this is unlikely to be the right role.
We need someone who can walk into a room, inspect a finish and know exactly what is wrong, explain how to correct it, demonstrate the correct technique and train the crew to reproduce it.
You will be expected to lead from the workface.
HFN Global Investments Limited is an equal opportunity employer.
