Fine Art Painter

Responsibilities:

• Create original paintings and artwork using mediums such as acrylic, oil, watercolour, or mixed media.
• Develop concepts, sketches, compositions, and colour palettes before producing final artwork.
• Interpret creative briefs, commissions, themes, or client requirements.
• Prepare canvases, boards, surfaces, paints, brushes, and other artistic materials.
• Apply different painting techniques to achieve desired textures, colours, depth, and visual effects.
• Produce artwork to a consistently high professional standard.
• Research artistic styles, techniques, subjects, and contemporary art trends.
• Make revisions and adjustments based on client or project feedback.
• Maintain a clean, organised, and safe working environment.
• Properly care for and maintain painting equipment and materials.
• Photograph and document completed artwork for portfolios, exhibitions, or promotional purposes.
• Meet agreed deadlines for commissioned or commercial artwork.
• Collaborate with clients, galleries, designers, photographers, or other creative professionals where required.

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a fine art painter, artist, or in a similar creative role.
• Strong understanding of colour theory, composition, perspective, proportion, and light/shadow.
• Excellent drawing and painting skills.
• Experience working with one or more painting mediums, such as oil, acrylic, watercolour, or gouache.
• Strong attention to detail and a good eye for colour and visual balance.
• Creativity and the ability to develop original artistic concepts.
• Ability to interpret and work from references, briefs, or client instructions.
• Good time-management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• A strong portfolio demonstrating previous artwork is essential.
• Formal education in fine art, visual arts, or a related discipline is desirable but not always essential.
• Knowledge of art conservation, framing, or digital art tools would be an advantage.
• Good communication and interpersonal skills.
