Job summary
We are seeking a meticulous and strategic Financial Manager to lead the financial planning, management, and reporting for our high-impact project: "Nigeria - Develop a strategy and project pipeline for mitigating methane emissions from waste dumps." This project, aims to revolutionize methane monitoring and mitigation in Nigeria through satellite technology and ground assessments. The successful candidate will not only manage project books but will also play a critical role in evaluating the financial feasibility of the project pipeline and developing robust funding proposals to secure resources for future climate interventions.
Job descriptions & requirements
- Oversee the project budget, track expenditures, and deliver accurate financial reports with variance justifications in strict compliance with internal and donor policies.
- Financial Feasibility: Assess the financial requirements and economic viability of proposed methane mitigation projects within the project pipeline.
- Resource Mobilization: Lead the financial modeling and budget development for comprehensive funding proposals to secure implementation capital.
- Audit & Compliance: Maintain audit-ready financial records and ensure all activities comply with Nigerian financial regulations and international accounting principles.
- Cash Flow Management: Manage project cash flow, payroll, and vendor payments to ensure seamless field operations for enumerators and technical staff.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Certification: Professional certification (e.g., ICAN, ACCA, or ANAN) is highly desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 - 3 years of progressive experience in financial management,
- ideally within the NGO sector or on international donor-funded projects (e.g., UN, CCAC, World Bank).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP) and advanced mastery of Microsoft Excel for complex financial modeling.
- Analytical Skills: Strong ability to analyze project costs and assess the financial feasibility of infrastructure/environmental projects.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal English skills, with the ability to prepare clear and concise financial summaries for non-financial stakeholders.
- High level of integrity, accountability, and attention to detail.
