Finance Officer
Job descriptions & requirements
LOCATION : Port Harcourt
- Support day-to-day financial operations, including payments, receipts, petty cash, and expense management.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records in line with company policies and reporting standards.
- Prepare and submit periodic financial reports, schedules, and supporting documentation to the head office finance team.
- Act as a finance liaison by coordinating financial information, queries, and requests between operational teams and the central finance function.
- Perform bank, cash, and ledger reconciliations and promptly resolve discrepancies.
- Monitor budgets and track actual expenditure against approved limits, highlighting variances as required.
- Support cash flow management through cash forecasts, funding requests, and treasury-related reporting.
- Ensure compliance with internal financial controls, approval limits, and company procedures.
- Coordinate with vendors, banks, auditors, and internal stakeholders on finance-related matters.
- Maintain proper documentation and filing of financial records for audit and compliance purposes.
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation and responding to audit queries.
- Identify and escalate financial risks, control gaps, or unusual transactions to management.
- Assist in improving finance processes, reporting accuracy, and operational efficiency.
Requirements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- ACA, ACCA, or CPA certification is an added advantage.
Experience
- 1–3 years’ experience in finance or accounting, with general experience in financial operations and reporting. Strong experience with IFRS reporting, reconciliations, and financial controls.
- Proficiency in ERP systems is highly desirable.
Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and IFRS.
- Strong financial analysis, problem-solving, and modelling skills.
- High ethical standards, confidentiality, and sound judgment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management tools.
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
