Accounts Officer

Responsibilities:

Financial Management & Reporting:

• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all financial transactions, including sales, purchases, payroll, and expenses, using tools such as Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or Excel.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly financial reports, including cash flow statements, profit and loss accounts, and balance sheets.
• Support the preparation of management accounts and performance dashboards.
• Ensure all ledgers (cash, bank, payables, receivables) are updated daily and reconciled weekly.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

• Assist in preparing annual budgets and financial forecasts.
• Track actual expenses against budgets and report any variances or irregularities.
• Provide financial insights to management for decision-making and cost control.

Accounts Payable & Receivable:

• Process supplier invoices and ensure timely payment of vendors.
• Track customer payments, follow up on outstanding receivables, and reconcile balances.
• Prepare weekly and monthly aging reports for both payables and receivables.

Bank & Cash Management:

• Perform daily bank and petty cash reconciliations.
• Monitor inflows from all sales channels (bank, POS, online payments, delivery agents).
• Accurately post all deposits, withdrawals, and transfers in the accounting system.

Compliance & Audit:

• Ensure compliance with company financial policies and statutory requirements (taxes, pension, VAT, WHT, etc.).
• Maintain proper documentation for all financial transactions to support audit and review processes.
• Assist internal and external auditors with required documentation and clarifications.

Internal Controls & Process Improvement:

• Implement and enforce internal control systems to prevent fraud and financial errors.
• Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and reporting accuracy.
• Collaborate with other departments to maintain discipline in expense reporting and documentation.

Management Support:

• Provide timely and accurate financial data to management for strategic decisions.
• Assist in evaluating new projects, loans, and investment opportunities.
• Prepare and monitor repayment schedules for company loans and other obligations.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Minimum of 2–4 years of relevant experience in accounting or financial management.
• Professional certification (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent) is an added advantage.
• Proficiency in Zoho Books, QuickBooks, Excel, and other accounting tools.
• Strong analytical, reporting, and reconciliation skills.
• Proven ability to manage cash flow and enforce payment discipline.
• High integrity, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

• Accuracy and timeliness of all financial reports.
• Completion of bank and cash reconciliations within agreed timelines.
• Variance between budgeted and actual expenditures.
• Compliance with tax, audit, and financial reporting standards.
• Reduction in outstanding receivables and improved cash flow management.
