Job Description/Requirements
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting & Compliance
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with applicable accounting standards (IFRS/GAAP).
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure the integrity of financial data.
- Coordinate and manage internal and external audits.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements (FIRS, local tax laws, etc.).
Financial Modelling & Strategic Analysis
- Develop and maintain complex financial models for scenario analysis, business forecasting, and investment decisions.
- Conduct variance analysis between actual and forecasted results.
- Provide strategic insights to management based on financial performance and market trends.
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the annual budgeting process and rolling forecasts.
- Work with departmental heads to develop and monitor budgets.
- Monitor budgetary performance and recommend cost control initiatives.
Tax Management & Compliance
- Prepare and file all tax returns (VAT, WHT, CIT, PAYE) timely and accurately.
- Ensure timely remittance of all tax obligations and maintain documentation for tax audits.
- Liaise with tax consultants and authorities to manage assessments and resolve disputes.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
- Ensure timely payment of invoices and proper credit control procedures.
Strategic Financial Support
- Provide financial input in business planning, pricing strategy, and operational decisions.
- Evaluate the financial viability of new projects and investments.
- Support fundraising or investor relations activities with financial data and reporting.
Leadership & Team Management
- Supervise and mentor the accounting/finance team.
- Review and approve journal entries, reports, and reconciliations.
- Support cross-functional teams with financial guidance.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Professional certification, such as ACA, ACCA, or CPA, is a plus.
- Proven experience with financial modeling and forecasting tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.).
- In-depth knowledge of financial regulations, tax laws, and accounting principles.
- Proficient in accounting software (e.g., Sage, QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP).
- Excellent analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines.
