Job descriptions & requirements
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily farm activities, including livestock management, crop production, and resource allocation.
- Manage and lead farm staff, ensuring efficient task completion, providing training, and overseeing work schedules while modeling the punctuality and diligence you expect from the team.
- Collaborate with executives to create and monitor budgets and financial reports, ensuring cost-effective and transparent operations.
- Ensure proper feeding, breeding, health care, and general welfare of livestock, including goats and poultry.
- Schedule and oversee maintenance and repair of farm equipment and machinery, catching small issues before they become costly ones.
- Enforce strict biosecurity measures across all farm activities and personnel to prevent disease spread and protect the health of livestock and the farm environment.
- Maintain accurate, honest records of livestock production, farm expenses, and staff performance that hold up whether or not anyone reviews them that week.
- Stay current with agricultural advancements and bring new best practices back to the farm, not just for productivity but for the well-being of the animals in your care.
Requirements:
- Minimum of an HND in Animal Science, Veterinary Medicine, or a related field.
- Proven experience in Farm Management or a related role with references who can speak to your character, not just your output.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills, demonstrated through how you've handled a team, not just how you describe it.
- Working knowledge of budgeting, financial planning, and livestock care.
- Familiarity with agricultural equipment and technology.
- A track record free of integrity concerns will be verified.
- Ownership over supervision. You notice a broken fence or a sick goat before anyone tells you to look. You don't wait for instructions to do the right thing.
- Honesty under pressure. You report problems immediately, even when the news is bad — delayed tasks, sick animals, equipment failure, staff issues. We'd rather hear the truth late than a comfortable story.
- Discipline without shortcuts. Timeliness, thoroughness, and following the SOP even when no one's checking the checklist.
- Leadership by presence, not title. Your team follows what they see you do, not what they hear you say.
- Zero tolerance for negligence or dishonesty, in yourself first, and then in the people you manage.
