Job summary

We are looking for an experienced Export Freight Forwarding Officer to manage export shipments from Nigeria. The role involves booking, export documentation, customs coordination, shipping arrangements, shipment tracking and communication with clients, shipping lines and clearing agents

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Manage export shipments from Nigeria from booking to vessel departure.
  • Arrange shipping bookings, container pickup, trucking and cargo loading.
  • Prepare, check and follow up on export documents, including Commercial Invoice, Packing List, NXP, Bill of Lading, Shipping Instructions and other relevant documents.
  • Coordinate with shipping lines, clearing agents, customs agents, trucking companies and overseas partners.
  • Follow up on customs clearance, terminal procedures, vessel schedules and shipment status.
  • Provide timely shipment updates to customers and handle any delays or operational issues.
  • Check freight charges and other shipment-related costs.
  • Maintain accurate shipment records and tracking reports using Excel or Google Sheets.


Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience in export freight forwarding, shipping or international logistics.
  • Practical experience handling export shipments in Nigeria.
  • Good knowledge of Nigerian export procedures and documentation.
  • Familiarity with shipping terms such as FCL, LCL, Booking, BL, SI, ETD, ETA, Cut-off, Demurrage and Detention.
  • Experience with Apapa, Tin Can or Lekki Port is an advantage.
  • Good English communication and email skills.
  • Good Excel/Google Sheets and computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, follow-up skills and problem-solving ability.
  • Able to work independently and handle multiple shipments at the same time.


Preferred:

  • Experience with Nigeria–China export/import logistics.
  • Experience working with shipping lines and clearing agents.
  • Mandarin/Chinese language ability is an advantage.
