Awesomely/Green Nig. Ltd is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Environmental and Social Safeguards Officer to support the implementation of environmental and social compliance measures within project activities. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to environmental regulations.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, policies, and project safeguard requirements.
  • Monitor project activities to identify and mitigate environmental and social risks.
  • Support the implementation of Environmental and Social Management Plans (ESMPs).
  • Promote awareness and adherence to environmental, health, and safety standards among staff and stakeholders.
  • Conduct sensitization and training sessions on environmental and social safeguard policies.
  • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports on safeguard compliance and incidents.
  • Support Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) activities, including data collection, field monitoring, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with project teams, community stakeholders, and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with safeguard requirements.
  • Assist in developing corrective action plans and tracking their implementation.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree or HND in Environmental Science, Social Sciences, Public Health, Development Studies, Human Resource Management, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of environmental and social safeguard principles and compliance requirements.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and reporting skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must be a resident of Ikire or willing to reside in Ikire.
  • Attention to detail and analytical thinking.
  • Data collection and reporting skills.
  • Problem-solving and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Stakeholder engagement and community relations skills.
  • High level of integrity and professionalism.
