Job Summary

We are seeking a passionate and experienced English Language Teacher to join our international secondary school. As an English Language Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality education to students ,following the British Curriculum. This dynamic role requires excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to adapt teaching methods to suit diverse learning styles. The selected candidate will be chosen by the Director of Schools in consultation with the HOS and Key Stage Coordinator.

  • Experience Length : 4 years

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Teach English Language according to the National Curriculum for England and Wales.
  • Set clear learning objectives, assess student progress, and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
  • Create and deliver engaging lesson plans that align with the school's curriculum guidelines.
  • Maintain classroom discipline and create a positive learning environment.
  • Assess and record student progress, preparing them for national tests.
  • Support school policies and objectives, ensuring student safety and conflict resolution.
  • Attend parent-teacher conferences and school events.
  • Uphold professional standards and engage in professional development.
  • Design instruction that enriches higher-order thinking skills and personalized learning.
  • Be a positive role model and support the school's mission.
  • Ensure health and safety measures are followed.
  • Demonstrate professionalism and cultural inclusivity.
  • Understand and adhere to school policies and guidelines.
  • Prioritize the safeguarding of children.
  • Attend assemblies and assist in supervising pupils.
  • Promote good attendance and monitor in accordance with the school's attendance policy.
  • Be available for all parent-teacher conferences.
  • Attend relevant meetings, including planning and training meetings.


Key Performance Indicators:

  • Effective teaching methods that engage all pupils.
  • Timely communication with parents and posting test scores.
  • Adherence to school policies and participation in meetings and events.
  • Curriculum planning, classroom management, and displays of student work.
  • Completion and implementation of lesson plans and professional development activities.
  • Positive attitude and interpersonal relations.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in English, Education, or a related field with teaching certification.
  • Additional certifications and minimum 4 years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Experience with the British curriculum is a MUST.


Location:
Abuja, Nigeria

Working Language: English

Working Hours:
Monday to Friday, 7:20 am to 4:00 pm, with occasional Saturday work as required
