Job summary
The Engineering Manager serves as the senior technical authority for all engineering activities across EPC projects, with full accountability for engineering quality, constructability, cost effectiveness, and execution alignment. This role leads multi-disciplinary engineering teams and ensures seamless integration between Engineering and Construction. Your core mandate includes: Own engineering governance, standards, and technical decision-making across all projects, ensure engineering outputs are constructible, build-ready, and execution-aligned, lead engineering teams to deliver high-quality outcomes on scope, schedule, cost, and safety and act as the senior technical interface with clients, partners, and regulatory bodies

Responsibilities:
Engineering Leadership & Technical Governance:
- Lead, plan, and coordinate all engineering activities across Concept, FEED, and Detailed Design phases.
- Serve as final technical authority across multi-disciplinary engineering scopes (Process, Piping, Mechanical, Electrical, Civil/Structural, E&I, Corrosion, and Safety).
- Establish, enforce, and continuously improve engineering standards, procedures, and design philosophies.
- Review, approve, and sign off on engineering deliverables in compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
- Ensure safety, operability, maintainability, and constructability are embedded into all engineering designs.
Engineering–Construction Interface & Execution Alignment:
- Act as the primary engineering authority responsible for alignment with Construction and Fabrication teams.
- Lead early and continuous constructability reviews involving Construction, Fabrication, and Installation teams.
- Ensure engineering designs reflect site conditions, fabrication capacity, installation methodologies, sequencing, and logistics constraints.
- Ensure timely issuance of AFC (Approved for Construction) deliverables aligned with project schedules.
- Lead resolution of engineering queries, RFIs, technical deviations, and field changes during construction and installation.
- Capture construction feedback and lessons learned into continuous engineering improvement.
Project Engineering Oversight & Execution Control:
- Provide oversight across all engineering projects to ensure delivery on scope, schedule, cost, and quality.
- Monitor engineering progress, milestones, and interfaces with Project Management, Procurement, Construction, and HSE.
- Lead resolution of technical issues impacting project execution and cost or schedule risk.
- Manage engineering changes, deviations, and scope control to minimise execution impact.
- Support construction, fabrication, installation, and commissioning phases with timely technical input.
Engineering Team Management & Resource Planning:
- Lead and manage the Engineering Design Team, including discipline leads, project engineers, and engineering staff.
- Assign Engineering Project Managers / Leads based on project complexity, risk, and capability.
- Plan and manage engineering resource allocation across multiple concurrent projects.
- Define clear roles, responsibilities, and accountability frameworks within the engineering organisation.
- Support recruitment, onboarding, mentoring, and succession planning for engineering personnel.
Performance Management, QA/QC & Risk Management:
- Implement and enforce robust engineering QA/QC processes and design review systems.
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, statutory, client, and corporate requirements.
- Identify engineering risks early and implement mitigation strategies
- Oversee management of technical deviations, non-conformances, and corrective actions.
- Define, track, and report engineering performance metrics, including:
- Schedule adherence
- Man-hour productivity
- Rework and error rates
- Resource utilization
- Use performance metrics to drive continuous improvement, capability development, and delivery excellence.
Business Development, Clients & Stakeholder Interface:
- Provide technical support to Business Development during opportunity identification, bid pursuits, and tender preparation.
- Review RFQs, ITTs, scopes of work, and technical requirements to define optimal execution strategies.
- Oversee preparation of technical proposals, methodologies, engineering deliverables, schedules, and man-hour estimates.
- Support technical clarifications, bid defences, and client engagements as required.
- Act as senior technical interface with clients, partners, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Civil/Structural, Electrical, Process, or related discipline).
- Master’s degree is an added advantage.
- Typically 12+ years of Oil & Gas engineering experience, with significant leadership responsibility in EPC/EPCIC environments.
- Strong knowledge of engineering design workflows, project execution, and international standards (API, ASME, ISO, IEC, DNV, CSA, etc.).
- Proven experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams across multiple projects.
- Demonstrated involvement in bid support, tendering, and technical/commercial evaluations.
- Strong leadership, decision-making, and stakeholder management skills.
- Professional certification (COREN, PMP, or equivalent) is highly preferred
