Role Description
This is a full time on-site role located in Port Harcourt for an Electrical Designer. The Electrical Designer will be responsible for creating and reviewing electrical system designs, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and coordinating with teams for effective power distribution and system implementation. Creating detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts using CAD/BIM tools. Translates engineering concepts and calculations into fabrication and construction-ready deliverables for projects.
Key Responsibilities
1: Drafting & Modeling Produce SLDs, wiring diagrams, control schematics, cable tray/trunking layouts, lighting and power layouts, earthing layouts, and panel general arrangements. Develop 2D drawings and 3D electrical models in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical. Ensure clash-free routing and coordination with mechanical, structural, and civil disciplines.
2: Documentation Generate as-built drawings and incorporate redline markups. Maintain drawing registers and ensure proper revision control.
3: Standards & Compliance Apply IEC, IEEE, NEC, and client-specific standards in all drawings. Ensure drawings meet company drafting standards and QA/QC checks.
4: Site & Procurement Support Respond to RFIs and provide drawing clarifications during construction. Support procurement with accurate material take-offs and technical data sheets.
Qualifications & Experience Education:
- HND/B.Eng. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical/Electronics, or equivalent. Diploma in Electrical Drafting also considered.
- Experience: 3-7 years in electrical drafting/design, preferably in EPC, Oil & Gas, Power, or Building Services.
- Software: Proficient in AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical. Knowledge of EPLAN, Navisworks, PDMS/E3D is an advantage.
- Knowledge: Understanding of electrical systems, cable sizing basics, hazardous area classification, and drafting standards.
