Job summary

The Driver is responsible for the safe and timely transportation of staff, goods, and materials as required. The role ensures proper vehicle maintenance, compliance with traffic regulations, and adherence to company policies while supporting daily operational activities.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

Distribution & Delivery:

  • Deliver products to distributors, retail outlets, supermarkets, pharmacies, hotels, restaurants, and other assigned customers.
  • Ensure accurate loading and offloading of goods based on delivery notes and invoices.
  • Verify quantities and obtain signed proof of delivery from customers.
  • Support the sales team during field visits when required.

Route & Time Management:

  • Plan and follow efficient delivery routes to meet daily distribution targets.
  • Ensure timely deliveries in line with operational schedules.
  • Report delivery delays or route challenges promptly.

Vehicle & Load Safety:

  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections before departure.
  • Ensure goods are properly arranged and secured to prevent damage during transit.
  • Maintain cleanliness and roadworthiness of the assigned vehicle.
  • Report mechanical faults immediately.

Documentation & Compliance:

  • Maintain accurate trip logs, fuel consumption records, and delivery documentation.
  • Ensure vehicle documents (insurance, license, roadworthiness, etc.) are valid.
  • Comply strictly with traffic laws and company safety policies.

Field Operations Support:

  • Assist in stock returns, damaged goods reporting, and reconciliation processes.
  • Provide market feedback observed during deliveries (competitor presence, pricing trends, stock levels).
  • Support promotional activities or market activations when assigned.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of SSCE qualification.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • 3–5 years of driving experience, preferably in FMCG distribution.
  • Good knowledge of Lagos road networks and market locations.
  • Ability to handle physical loading and offloading tasks.
  • Honest, reliable, and detail-oriented.
