Job summary
Rex Microfinance Bank is seeking a results-driven Direct Merchant Acquisition Officer who will be responsible for identifying, acquiring, onboarding, and activating merchants for the Rex Microfinance Bank payment solutions.

Responsibilities:
Merchant Acquisition & Engagement:
- Identify potential merchants across retail, wholesale, hospitality, and service sectors.
- Conduct market research to target high-potential merchants in assigned territories.
- Promote and demonstrate payment solutions (POS, online payments, mobile payments, USSD solutions if applicable).
- Build long-term relationships with merchants to foster trust, retention, and loyalty.
- Onboard merchants, ensuring accurate documentation in line with CBN guidelines, KYC, and AML compliance requirements.
- Conduct field visits, presentations, and product demonstrations to drive adoption.
Transaction Growth & Revenue Generation:
- Drive activation and sustained transaction volumes for onboarded merchants.
- Collaborate with marketing and operations teams to design promotions and incentives to increase usage.
- Monitor and report on merchant performance, transaction trends, and revenue contribution.
- Meet and exceed assigned merchant acquisition and transaction targets.
Compliance & Regulatory Adherence:
- Ensure all merchant acquisition and onboarding processes comply with CBN regulations, NDPR (Nigeria Data Protection Regulation), and internal bank/fintech policies.
- Conduct due diligence on merchants, ensuring proper documentation, approvals, and risk assessment.
- Maintain records of merchant interactions, agreements, and reports for audit and regulatory purposes.
Collaboration & Cross-Functional Support:
- Work closely with operations, support, and technical teams to resolve merchant issues efficiently.
- Provide feedback from merchants to internal teams to improve product offerings and service delivery.
- Coordinate with IT and fintech teams on system integrations, onboarding processes, and troubleshooting.
- Support campaigns, product launches, and promotions in coordination with marketing teams.
Reporting & Market Analysis:
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports on merchant acquisition, activation, and transaction metrics.
- Track competitor activity and industry trends to identify new opportunities.
- Provide actionable insights to senior management for strategy development.
Requirements:
- Minimum BSc.
- 3 years of previous experience in a similar role.
