Job summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Structural Design Engineer to join our engineering team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for the structural analysis, design, and review of residential, commercial, industrial, and infrastructure projects.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Design structural systems for buildings, bridges, and other civil engineering projects using appropriate engineering principles and design codes.
  • Perform structural calculations, load analysis, and design of reinforced concrete, structural steel, timber, and masonry structures.
  • Prepare structural drawings, calculations, specifications, and technical reports.
  • Review architectural drawings and provide structural recommendations to support project objectives.
  • Conduct structural assessments and feasibility studies for new and existing structures.
  • Participate in project planning, budgeting, and scheduling.
  • Coordinate with architects, civil engineers, MEP engineers, and contractors throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Review shop drawings, construction methods, and material specifications.
  • Provide technical support during construction and resolve structural design issues that arise on-site.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure construction complies with approved structural drawings and specifications.
  • Monitor the quality of construction materials and workmanship.
  • Identify structural defects, recommend corrective actions, and prepare inspection reports.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Prepare engineering reports, design documentation, calculations, and project records.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable building codes, engineering standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in design reviews, value engineering exercises, and risk assessments.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and technical records.


Requirements:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree (B.Eng./B.Sc.) in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Proven years of experience in structural design and engineering.
  • Professional registration with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria is an added advantage.
  • Membership of the Nigerian Society of Engineers is desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete, steel, timber, and foundation design.
  • Proficiency in structural design software such as ETABS and STAAD.Pro, SAFE, SAP2000, ProtaStructure, or Tekla Structural Designer.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of Nigerian and international structural design codes and standards.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and report-writing abilities.
