Job summary
The Credit Recovery Officer will be responsible for formulating and implementing robust strategies to facilitate the recovery of delinquent loans, thereby minimizing default rates. The role involves conducting thorough assessments of loan applications to determine applicant eligibility, evaluating creditworthiness, and analyzing potential risks.

Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage overdue accounts across various customer portfolios.
- Collaborate with the legal team for escalated recovery actions, including litigation or repossession, where necessary.
- Contact clients via phone, email, or in-person visits to follow up on outstanding debts.
- Negotiations and rescheduling of outstanding facilities with delinquent customers.
- Provide support and advice to internal teams on credit control procedures.
- Identify and escalate high-risk accounts for further action or decision-making.
- Conduct credit checks and assess the creditworthiness of applicants.
- Evaluate applicants' financial status, credit history, and ability to repay loans.
- Make informed recommendations regarding loan approvals or denials.
- Ensure compliance with lending policies, regulations, and procedures.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation for loan decisions.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure a smooth loan processing experience.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Must have completed NYSC.
- A minimum of 3 - 5 years’ work experience as a credit and recovery officer in the financial sector is mandatory.
- Proven experience in debt recovery, collections, or credit control.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

- Strong negotiation and communication skills,
- Strong Analytical Skills to assess debts, identify trends, and propose data-driven recovery strategies.
- Knowledge of Finance principles and processes related to credit and loan management.
- Organizational and documentation skills for maintaining accurate and detailed repayment records.
- Proactive mindset with the ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with local debt recovery regulations and compliance policies
