Credit Recovery Officer
Job summary
We are seeking an experienced Credit Recovery Officer to manage and recover delinquent loan accounts, minimize credit losses, and improve overall portfolio quality.

Responsibilities:
- Monitor and manage overdue and delinquent loan accounts across assigned customer portfolios.
- Contact customers by phone, email, and physical visits to follow up on outstanding repayments.
- Negotiate repayment plans, settlements, and restructuring arrangements with delinquent customers.
- Conduct field visits and other recovery activities as required.
- Track customer commitments and ensure agreed repayment plans are followed.
- Identify high-risk and difficult accounts and escalate them appropriately.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of recovery activities, customer commitments, and payments.
- Prepare regular recovery reports and provide updates on portfolio performance.
- Work closely with Credit, Sales, Finance, and Legal teams to resolve delinquent accounts.
- Collaborate with the Legal team on escalated recovery actions, including litigation and repossession where necessary.
- Recommend effective recovery strategies for difficult accounts.
- Ensure all recovery activities comply with company policies, regulatory requirements, and ethical collection practices.
- Identify trends in loan defaults and recommend strategies to improve recovery rates and reduce future delinquencies.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or a related field.
- Must have completed NYSC.
- Minimum of 2–5 years’ relevant experience in credit recovery, debt collection, credit control, or loan recovery within the financial services sector is mandatory.
- Proven experience managing delinquent loan accounts and developing effective repayment plans.
- Experience in field collections and customer negotiations is an advantage.
- Strong negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.\
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good knowledge of credit, loan management, and debt recovery processes.
- Ability to analyze customer repayment patterns and develop data-driven recovery strategies.
- Strong documentation and record-keeping skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently, meet recovery targets, and manage multiple accounts effectively.
- Knowledge of applicable debt recovery regulations and compliance requirements.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, persistence, and attention to detail.
- Proximity to Port Harcourt is an added advantage.

- Remuneration: NGN 180,000 – ₦250,000 monthly, slightly negotiable based on experience.
