Job summary

We are seeking a diligent, analytical, and results-driven Credit Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assessing customers' creditworthiness, managing credit portfolios, monitoring repayments, and minimizing the company's credit risk while supporting business growth.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate and process customer credit applications.
  • Conduct credit investigations and verify customer information.
  • Assess customers' financial capacity and recommend appropriate credit limits.
  • Monitor customer accounts to ensure timely repayment of outstanding debts.
  • Follow up on overdue accounts and implement effective debt recovery strategies.
  • Prepare periodic credit reports and portfolio performance analyses.
  • Maintain accurate customer credit records and documentation.
  • Liaise with the Sales, Finance, and Operations teams to ensure compliance with the company's credit policies.
  • Conduct customer visits where necessary for credit assessment and collections.
  • Identify potential credit risks and recommend appropriate mitigation measures.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.

 

Requirements

  • Minimum of an OND in Accounting, Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Banking & Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' experience in credit administration, debt recovery, or a similar role.
  • Strong analytical and financial assessment skills.
  • Excellent negotiation and debt recovery skills.
  • Good knowledge of credit risk management principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.


Preferred Requirements:

  • Experience in FMCG, manufacturing, distribution, or financial services will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of accounting software or ERP systems.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel for customer visits where required.
