Creative Fashion Designer / Illustrator
Job summary
Our Client is seeking an imaginative Fashion Designer who can research, sketch, and develop original women’s fashion concepts into production-ready designs. The successful candidate will bring a clear creative point of view while balancing wearability, brand identity, customer needs, cost, and the realities of garment construction.

Responsibilities:
- Research fashion, cultural, consumer, colour, fabric, and silhouette trends relevant to the brand and its target customers.
- Develop original concepts, mood boards, colour stories, prints, embellishment directions, and seasonal or capsule collections.
- Produce clear hand-drawn or digital fashion illustrations showing garment silhouette, construction intent, styling, and key details.
- Prepare technical flats, design notes, fabric recommendations, trims, measurements, and other specifications needed by pattern cutters and garment makers.
- Translate creative ideas into commercially realistic designs that can be produced within target cost, skill, material, and delivery constraints.
- Collaborate with corset specialists, tailors, pattern cutters, stylists, and management from concept through sample approval.
- Participate in fabric sourcing and evaluate drape, weight, durability, stretch, colour, comfort, and suitability for each design.
- Review samples and fittings, identify design or construction issues, and issue clear corrections while protecting the original concept.
- Maintain organised design files, sketches, measurements, fabric references, sample notes, and version history.
- Create fresh design options for bespoke clients while avoiding plagiarism and protecting confidential designs.
- Support lookbooks, campaign styling, product descriptions, collection presentations, and social-media storytelling where required.
- Track assigned design deadlines and communicate decisions promptly so production is not delayed.
Requirements:
- Training in Fashion Design, Fine Art, Illustration, Garment Technology, or demonstrably equivalent experience.
- A strong portfolio showing original women’s wear concepts, fashion illustration, and finished garments or production outcomes.
- Excellent hand-sketching ability; competence with relevant digital design tools is an advantage.
- Working knowledge of garment construction, pattern development, textiles, fit, colour, and production processes.
- Ability to create original work and distinguish inspiration from copying.
- Strong visual judgement, curiosity, attention to detail, communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to accept feedback, revise designs, manage several briefs, and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work at either Berger or Abule Egba as assigned.
