Responsibilities:
- Prepare and maintain accurate cost accounting records and reports.
- Monitor and analyse the mall's operating expenses, including utilities, maintenance, security, cleaning, facility management, and other operational costs.
- Track actual expenditure against approved budgets and investigate significant variances.
- Prepare monthly cost and management reports for management review.
- Analyse costs and identify opportunities to improve operational efficiency and reduce unnecessary expenditure.
- Monitor inventory, consumables, and stock usage where applicable.
- Work closely with Procurement, Operations, Facilities, Finance, and other departments to monitor costs.
- Assist with the preparation of annual budgets, forecasts, and financial plans.
- Conduct regular cost reconciliations and ensure discrepancies are investigated and resolved.
- Monitor vendor and service-provider costs and support contract cost reviews.
- Maintain accurate records of fixed and variable operating costs.
- Support month-end and year-end financial closing processes.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing relevant schedules and documentation.
- Develop and maintain cost-control procedures and financial controls.
- Perform any other accounting and financial analysis duties assigned by management.
Requirements:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- A minimum of 2–5 years of relevant experience in cost accounting, management accounting, financial accounting, retail, hospitality, property management, or a similar environment.
- Professional accounting qualification such as ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent is an added advantage.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax requirements, and internal financial policies.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting, cost control, and financial reporting.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/ERP software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to work with large volumes of financial data and meet deadlines.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with multiple departments and external vendors.
- Review invoices, purchase orders, receipts, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and proper authorisation.
