Consultant Psychiatrist
Job summary
We are seeking Consultant Psychiatrists to provide comprehensive psychiatric care to children, adolescents, adults. This role is open to newly qualified and early-career Consultant Psychiatrists, as well as experienced consultants, who are committed to patient-centered, ethical, and high-quality psychiatric care.

Responsibilities:
Clinical Care:
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric assessments across all age groups
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of mental-health conditions
- Provide inpatient psychiatric care, including admissions, ward rounds, and discharge planning
- Provide outpatient psychiatric consultations and follow-up care
- Deliver psychiatric consultations via telemedicine, as scheduled
- Prescribe and manage psychotropic medications safely and appropriately
- Develop, implement, and review individualised treatment plans
Multidisciplinary Collaboration:
- Work closely with psychologists, nurses, therapists, and other clinicians
- Participate in case conferences and treatment planning meetings
- Provide clinical input to support integrated, team-based care
Clinical Governance & Professional Practice:
- Maintain accurate, timely, and confidential medical records
- Adhere to ethical, professional, and legal standards of psychiatric practice
- Participate in clinical audits, supervision, and quality-improvement activities
- Engage in continuing professional development
Clinical Systems & Support:
- Modern electronic charting system with AI-supported tools to improve efficiency, reduce errors, and support clinical care.
- Dedicated administrative and clinical support to reduce documentation burden and enhance workflow efficiency
Scope of Practice:
- All age groups: children, adolescents, adults, older adults
- Service settings: inpatient, outpatient, and telemedicine
- Conditions: mood disorders, psychotic disorders, anxiety disorders, trauma-related disorders, substance-use disorders, neurodevelopmental conditions, and related psychiatric presentations
Requirements:
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree
- Fellowship qualification in Psychiatry (FMCPsych, FWACPsych, or equivalent)
- Full registration and current license with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN)
- Good standing with relevant professional bodies
- Newly qualified Consultant Psychiatrists are welcome to apply
- Experience gained during residency/fellowship in inpatient, outpatient, or telepsychiatry settings is acceptable
- Interest or exposure to substance-use or detox services is an advantage
