Construction Manager
Job summary
The CM is the on-site authority for all construction activities across the entire residential estate. This is a demanding, high-visibility leadership role that requires the ability to coordinate multiple simultaneous workstreams, manage a large and diverse workforce, and maintain programme, quality, and safety standards without compromise.

Responsibilities:
- Hold overall on-site authority and responsibility for all construction activities across all residential blocks and external works simultaneously
- Chair the daily site coordination meeting with all Zone Construction Managers, the Programme and MEP Manager, and the Site Engineers
- Manage all subcontract crews on site; review and approve method statements before any work package commences
- Monitor daily progress against the look-ahead; identify and escalate any delay risk to the Project Director and Programme and MEP Manager immediately
- Manage the site logistics plan in coordination with the Site Logistics Coordinator
- Resolve on-site conflicts between trades, zones, or subcontractors; make binding site decisions on work sequencing and temporary works
- Ensure all quality hold points are observed and that no concrete pour takes place without the Site Engineer and quality sign-off
- Enforce the HSE plan on site; support the HSE Manager in maintaining a zero-harm culture
- Approve subcontractor daily labour and plant returns for commercial management
- Produce the daily site report and brief the Project Director daily on site status
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Management; professional registration with NSE or NIOB is preferred; COREN registration is beneficial
- Minimum 10 years of construction experience, with demonstrated experience managing multi-building residential projects in Lagos
- Strong knowledge of reinforced concrete construction, flat slab systems, and raft foundations
- Experience managing a large site workforce across multiple concurrent buildings
- Membership of NIOB or NSE is an advantage
- Natural authority and the ability to command the respect of a large, diverse site workforce
- Strong decision-making ability under pressure; decisive and clear
- Excellent situational awareness; able to monitor multiple simultaneous activities without losing focus
- Strong safety leadership; zero tolerance for HSE non-compliance
