Job summary

Our Client in Abuja seeks a Compliance Officer with 5 years experience, preferably in real estate, construction, investment, corporate law, or regulated sectors. Strong knowledge of Nigerian property law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance. Salary ranges from N250,000-N400,000 based on experience.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute comprehensive compliance and risk management strategies aligned with the vision and business objective
  • Lead enterprise-wide risk assessment and mitigation initiatives across all subsidiaries and operations
  • Oversee regulatory compliance frameworks to ensure adherence to Nigerian real estate laws, investment regulations, and industry standards
  • Ensure compliance with Land Use Act, Urban Planning Laws, and state-specific property regulations across multiple locations
  • Manage regulatory relationships with SEC Nigeria, CBN, Corporate Affairs Commission, and relevant professional bodies
  • Oversee statutory approvals processes including Certificate of Occupancy, Environmental Impact Assessments, and development permits
  • Oversee anti-money laundering (AML) protocols for high-value property transactions
  • Direct comprehensive internal audit programs covering property development, construction, sales, and investment operations
  • Lead, mentor, and develop compliance and audit teams to achieve operational excellence


Requirements:

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Law (LL.B); BL required
  • A minimum of 3- 5 years of experience, preferably in real estate, construction, investment environment, corporate law, or regulated sectors
  • Compliance/Risk certifications are strongly preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian property law, corporate governance, and regulatory compliance
  • Experience working with SEC-regulated products or investment structures is an advantage
  • Proven experience leading internal audits, handling contracts, land documentation, and regulatory approvals and risk framework
  • Strong analytical, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • High ethical standards, discretion, and attention to detail
