Job summary

Covek Properties is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our dynamic real estate firm. In this critical role, you will manage the full cycle of financial operations, including property accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and compliance for a diverse portfolio of residential, commercial, and investment properties.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings and reporting.
  • Prepare financial statements (Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) in accordance with applicable accounting standards.
  • Ensure timely and accurate payment of taxes, statutory deductions, and regulatory filings.
  • Monitor cash flow, budget variances, and financial performance, providing insightful analysis to management.
  •  Conduct periodic financial audits and implement internal control procedures.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and regulatory bodies as required.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities.
  • Perform any other finance-related duties as assigned by the Management.


Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from a reputable institution.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in the real estate or property development sector.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Nigerian financial regulations, tax laws (including VAT, WHT, and PAYE), and IFRS/local GAAP.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Being a Chartered Accountant (ICAN or ACCA) is an added advantage.
