The Commercial Officer will manage oil & gas project contracts, commercial terms, and project financial performance, supporting bids, variations, and client negotiations to ensure profitability and contract compliance.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Administer and manage oil & gas project contracts to ensure compliance with commercial terms, pricing, and payment milestones.
  • Prepare commercial inputs for bids and tenders, including cost breakdowns, pricing schedules, and financial assumptions.
  • Monitor project financial performance by tracking costs, revenues, margins, and cash flow throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage contract variations, change orders, and claims in coordination with project, engineering, and procurement teams.
  • Support negotiations with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to protect the company's commercial interests.
  • Ensure timely invoicing, certification, and follow-up on payments in line with contractual agreements.
  • Identify commercial risks and opportunities and implement mitigation or value-enhancement actions.
  • Maintain accurate commercial documentation, reports, and records for management review and audits.


Requirements:

  • Minimum Bsc in Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline. An added qualification is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years’ commercial or contracts experience within automation, instrumentation, oil & gas, power, or EPC project environments.
  • Strong knowledge of contract management, project costing, variation claims, and commercial risk management.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, procurement, and project management teams.
  • High level of commercial acumen, analytical thinking, negotiation skills, and professional communication.
