Job summary
It is a 5 days shift work that requires working in the college hospital in alignment with the Doctor of the college's hospital.

Responsibilities:
- Provide first aid, basic nursing care, and immediate attention to students and staff who become ill or sustain injuries within the College premises.
- Work closely with the College Hospital Doctor in assessing, managing, monitoring, and following up with students and staff with health concerns.
- Refer cases requiring medical assessment, diagnosis, treatment, or further clinical intervention to the College Hospital Doctor promptly.
- Implement nursing instructions and treatment plans prescribed by the College Hospital Doctor within the scope of professional nursing practice.
- Monitor patients receiving treatment and promptly report any changes, deterioration, or concerns to the College Hospital Doctor.
- Assist the College Hospital Doctor during medical consultations, examinations, procedures, and other clinical activities where required.
- Maintain appropriate communication with the College Hospital Doctor regarding patients’ medical conditions, treatment progress, and follow-up needs.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with the Doctor’s instructions, applicable professional standards, and College healthcare policies.
- Monitor students and staff with known medical conditions and ensure that their care is appropriately coordinated with the College Hospital Doctor.
- Respond promptly to medical emergencies and immediately involve the College Hospital Doctor or arrange appropriate emergency medical support where necessary.
- Maintain accurate and confidential records of consultations, treatments, medications administered, injuries, illnesses, referrals, and follow-up care.
- Ensure that relevant medical information is made available to the College Hospital Doctor when required for appropriate clinical management.
- Communicate with parents or guardians regarding students’ health concerns, treatment, referrals, and follow-up, as directed by the College Hospital Doctor or in accordance with College policy.
- Maintain and regularly inspect the College clinic, first-aid boxes, medical equipment, and healthcare supplies.
- Ensure that medical equipment and supplies are properly stored, maintained, and replenished when necessary.
- Monitor the general health, hygiene, and sanitation conditions of the College and promptly report health-related concerns to the appropriate authority.
- Support the College Hospital Doctor in conducting health education programmes, medical screenings, health talks, and other preventive healthcare initiatives.
- Promote good personal hygiene, nutrition, healthy lifestyle practices, and general health awareness among students and staff.
- Assist in implementing infection-prevention and control measures within the College.
- Support the College Hospital Doctor in developing and implementing appropriate emergency-response and healthcare procedures for the College.
- Provide medical support during school activities, sporting events, examinations, excursions, and other College programmes when required.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding students’ and staff members’ medical information and records.
- Participate in regular meetings or briefings with the College Hospital Doctor and relevant members of Management concerning healthcare matters.
- Maintain professional knowledge through relevant training and continuing professional development.
- Comply with the standards and ethical requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Nigeria (NMCN), College policies, and applicable healthcare regulations.
- Perform other healthcare-related duties reasonably assigned by the College Hospital Doctor or School Management, within the scope of professional nursing practice.
Requirements:
- Registered Nurse qualification from a recognised institution
- Previous experience in paediatric, school, community, clinic, hospital, or general nursing is an added advantage.
- Sound knowledge of first aid, basic emergency response, infection prevention, and health promotion.
- Ability to effectively implement prescribed treatment and nursing care plans.
- Strong observation, assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to recognise situations requiring prompt referral to the College Hospital Doctor or emergency medical services.
- Compassionate, patient, responsible, and approachable disposition.
- Ability to maintain accurate, confidential, and well-organised medical records.
- Ability to work effectively with children, adolescents, parents, teachers, Management, and healthcare professionals.
- Good organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while maintaining close professional collaboration with the College Hospital Doctor.
