Job Summary

The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a key member of the executive leadership team responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the organization. The CFO provides strategic direction on financial planning, risk management, budgeting, reporting, and investment decisions to support sustainable business growth and profitability.

Job Description/Requirements

Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Develop and execute the company’s financial strategy aligned with overall business goals.
  • Partner with the CEO and executive team to drive growth, profitability, and operational excellence.
  • Provide financial insights and recommendations to support strategic decisions, business expansion, and resource allocation.
  • Lead the development of short-term and long-term financial plans, budgets, and forecasts.


Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A)

  • Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements, management reports, and performance dashboards.
  • Monitor key financial metrics, identify trends, and provide actionable insights for improvement.
  • Evaluate business opportunities, mergers/acquisitions, and capital investments through detailed financial modeling and due diligence.


Accounting & Reporting

  • Ensure accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of all financial reporting in compliance with IFRS/GAAP and regulatory standards.
  • Oversee the preparation of audited financial statements and coordinate with external auditors.
  • Maintain strong internal controls and compliance frameworks across all financial operations.


Treasury & Cash Flow Management

  • Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to ensure financial stability and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee banking relationships, credit facilities, and investment management.
  • Optimize capital structure and funding strategies to support business growth.


Risk Management & Compliance

  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and operational risks.
  • Ensure full compliance with tax laws, statutory regulations, and corporate governance requirements.
  • Establish and maintain policies for financial risk management, procurement, and expense control.


Leadership & Team Development

  • Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing finance and accounting team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement within the department.
  • Collaborate with other executives to align financial goals with organizational priorities.


Stakeholder Engagement

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the CEO, board of directors, and investors.
  • Present financial results, forecasts, and strategic insights to the board and key stakeholders.
  • Manage relationships with auditors, financial institutions, regulatory bodies, and investment partners.


Requirements:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) or Finance is an added advantage.
  • Professional certification, such as ACA, ACCA, CPA, or CF,A is required or highly preferred.


Experience:

  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in finance and accounting, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience in strategic financial management, capital raising, and business transformation.
  • Experience working in Retail, Fashion, and FMCG is preferred.


Technical Skills:

  • Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, analysis, and forecasting.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/GAAP and corporate finance principles.
  • Proficiency in ERP/accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, QuickBooks, Microsoft Dynamics).
  • Understanding of investment management, corporate financing, and risk assessment tools.


Soft Skills:

  • Strong strategic thinking and business acumen.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • High integrity and sound judgment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Exceptional analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities.
