Job summary

Crescendo Capital Limited is recruiting a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) on behalf of its client, a leading furniture manufacturing and construction company. The CFO will provide strategic financial leadership by overseeing the organisation's financial strategy and stewardship, including financial planning, reporting, treasury, cost management etc.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

Financial Strategy & Planning:

  • Develop and lead the company's financial strategy in line with overall business objectives
  • Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, and long-term financial planning across all locations
  • Provide financial modelling and scenario analysis to support expansion, new showrooms, and new client segments
  • Advise the MD/CEO and executive team on the financial implications of strategic and investment decisions


Financial Reporting & Control:

  • Ensure accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with applicable accounting standards
  • Oversee the integrity of financial records and consolidation across all business locations
  • Design and maintain robust internal controls, approval limits, and financial policies
  • Manage the external audit relationship and ensure clean, timely audit outcomes


 Cash Flow & Treasury Management:

  • Manage working capital, cash flow forecasting, and liquidity across the business
  • Oversee banking relationships, credit facilities, and financing arrangements
  • Manage foreign exchange exposure relating to imported materials and inputs
  • Structure payment terms and deposit schedules for large bespoke/custom orders in coordination with Sales


Cost Management & Profitability

  • Implement and maintain costing systems for custom/bespoke furniture production — materials, labour, and overhead allocation
  • Monitor margins by product line, client segment, and location
  • Identify cost optimisation opportunities across production, logistics, and operations
  • Partner with Design/Architecture and Operations to ensure pricing reflects true cost-to-serve


Tax, Compliance & Risk:

  • Ensure full compliance with applicable Nigerian tax obligations (FIRS, State IRS, PAYE, VAT, WHT) and statutory filings (pension, NHF, ITF, NSITF)
  • Oversee company secretarial and regulatory compliance requirements (e.g. CAC filings)
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate financial and business risks, including insurance coverage across assets, inventory, and operations 6. Team Leadership & Governance
  • Lead, develop, and manage the finance and accounts team across all locations
  • Build financial systems, processes, and controls fit for a growing, multi-site manufacturing business
  • Support the MD/CEO and Board with governance reporting and financial oversight structures
  • Align finance processes - payroll costing, benefits, incentive structures - with the ongoing HR Transformation programme


Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • Professional accounting qualification required (ICAN, ACCA, or equivalent)
  • An MBA or relevant Master's degree is an advantage. 
  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive finance experience, including at least 4–5 years in a senior finance leadership role (CFO, Finance Director, or Head of Finance)
  • Experience in manufacturing, furniture, or a related production-based sector is preferred
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-location finance operations
  • A strong background in cost/costing systems for made-to-order or bespoke production is an advantage
  • Experience working with family-owned or privately-held businesses is a plus
  • Strong financial and strategic acumen
  • Leadership and team development capability
  • High ethical standards and personal integrity
  • Sound knowledge of the Nigerian tax and regulatory environment
  • Proficiency with accounting/ERP systems
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
