Job summary
MNIKS Purple is seeking a friendly, detail-oriented Cashier to support daily retail operations, deliver excellent customer service, and assist with sales, inventory, and hub activities in our Surulere fashion and creative hub.
Job descriptions & requirements
Customer Experience & Sales:
- Welcome customers warmly and provide friendly, knowledgeable assistance.
- Assist customers in selecting fabrics, sewing materials, tools, and accessories.
- Offer guidance on product usage, sewing techniques, and suitable options.
- Demonstrate products when required.
- Maintain a calm, professional approach during busy periods.
- Actively support sales through excellent service and product knowledge.
Customer Service & Checkout:
- Accurately process purchases, refunds, exchanges, and gift cards.
- Balance cash tills at the start and end of shifts.
- Maintain clear and organized transaction records.
- Handle customer enquiries professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
Hub Support & Presentation:
- Keep the cashier and surrounding areas clean, organized, and customer-ready.
- Assist with stock replenishment, inventory control, and pricing.
- Ensure products are properly displayed, labelled, and priced.
- Support receiving, tagging, unpacking, and arranging new stock.
Operations & Team Support:
- Support opening and closing procedures as scheduled.
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure smooth daily operations.
- Assist with promotions, sales periods, pop-ups, and events.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety across the sales floor, stock room, and work areas.
- Actively promote MNIKS Purple products, services, and brand values in-hub and online.
- Support workshops, demonstrations, collaborations, and community events.
Customer Engagement & Community Building:
- Build professional relationships with customers and encourage repeat visits.
- Stay informed on fashion, sewing, and creative trends to inspire customers.
Requirements:
- Previous experience in cashiering, retail, or customer service.
- Strong numeracy skills and comfort with computers and inventory systems.
- Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
- Friendly, patient, and customer-focused attitude.
- Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and public holidays.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to commute easily to Surulere, Lagos.
- Experience in fashion, fabric, or creative retail (Desired).
- Knowledge of fabrics, sewing, and haberdashery products (Desired).
- Experience in visual merchandising (Desired).
- Familiarity with e-commerce or digital retail tools (Desired).
