Job summary

We are seeking a trustworthy, detail-oriented, and organized Cashier to join our cooperative society. The successful candidate will be responsible for handling daily cash transactions, processing loan repayments and disbursements, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing excellent customer service to members while ensuring compliance with the cooperative's financial policies.

Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Receive and process loan repayments, savings deposits, and other member payments.
  • Disburse approved loans to members in line with established procedures.
  • Issue receipts for all transactions and maintain proper documentation.
  • Balance the cash drawer and reconcile daily cash transactions.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly cash reports.
  • Maintain accurate records of all cash inflows and outflows.
  • Deposit cash into designated bank accounts when required.
  • Ensure the security and confidentiality of cash and financial records.
  • Respond professionally to members' inquiries regarding payments and transactions.
  • Work closely with the Accounts and Loan Officers to ensure accurate financial records.
  • Report any cash discrepancies or suspicious transactions immediately.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.


Requirements:

  • OND in Accounting, Banking & Finance, Business Administration, Economics, or a related discipline.
  • At least 1–2 years of experience as a Cashier, Teller, or in a similar financial role.
  • Experience in a microfinance bank, cooperative society, or financial institution is an added advantage.
  • Good knowledge of cash handling procedures and basic accounting principles.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, especially Excel.
  • Excellent numerical, organizational, and record-keeping skills.
  • Strong integrity, honesty, and attention to detail.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
