Job descriptions & requirements

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and dispense medications accurately based on valid prescriptions presented by patientsPrepare and dispense medications accurately based on valid prescriptions presented by patients.
  • Type and process prescriptions for each medication as advised by the optometrist or attending clinician.
  • Explain prescriptions, dosage, and administration instructions clearly to patients.
  • Monitor the quality, safety, and appropriate use of medicines in line with professional standards, legislation, and codes of practice.
  • Organize the pharmacy efficiently to enable quick identification and retrieval of products.
  • Maintain proper receipt, storage, labeling, and distribution of medicines and related products.
  • Monitor stock conditions to prevent expiration, deterioration, or damage.
  • Conduct daily inventory checks and ensure accurate stock records.
  • Assess the identity, strength, and purity of medications received as stock.
  • Cashiering, Billing & Financial Management
  • Handle all cash, POS, transfer, cheque, and credit card transactions accurately.
  • Receive payments from patients for products and services and issued receipts promptly.
  • Enter sales and service transactions into the cash register and accounting systems.
  • Balance cash float and reconciled daily accounts at the close of business.
  • Manage petty cash expenses with appropriate management approval.
  • Ensure prompt daily remittance of cash to the bank.
  • Check product prices, discounts, and promotional offers to ensure billing accuracy.
  • Inspect sales items and verify prices against sales slips and approved tariffs.
  • Record daily entries for cash, cheque, and electronic transactions and maintained accurate accounting records.
  • Identify, investigated, and reported discrepancies in accounts to supervisors and management.
  • Manage account balances, identified outstanding debts, and sent payment reminders when required.
  • HMO, Insurance & Administrative Support
  • Attend to HMO and corporate patients, verified eligibility, and ensured compliance with approved tariffs.
  • Check final billing data for accuracy against SEC tariffs or HMO/corporate agreements.
  • Log payments from insurance providers and patients into ECMS and updated internal financial records.
  • Sent emails for eligibility confirmation, pre-authorization (P.A) codes, and updates with HMOs.
  • Ensure all required documentation was completed and signed to facilitate timely patient care.
  • Collect and verified billing information, including order amounts and discount rates.
  • Prepare and submitted daily and weekly financial and operational reports to the Branch Supervisor and Finance Manager.


Requirements:

  • Minimum BSc
  • 2 years of previous work experience in similar role
